March 27, 2007: I was doing some web page testing today and it seems like Internet Explorer does not like my flash movies. Even though auto start is turned off, the movies all play when the web page loads. I'm looking into fixing this problem, but the fix will probably be a pop-up player instead of an embedded player. I'll hopefully have this fix worked out by Easter time.
March 24, 2007: It has been an active 24 hours! An aurora chase at 2:00am was a huge success. The recap of this chase is in Chase Logs 2007. The blowing snow, northern lights, and snowstorms photo galleries have been updated and a new photo is in the On the Prowl section.
March 19, 2007: Well, I'm back at school, so any web site work will be sporadic. I added a new photo in the "On the Prowl" section and wrote a beta page for the Great Lakes Shipping Photos section (accessible from the About Me page). The only thing there is the main page; none of the links work at this point, and it will be several months before any progress is made since many of the photos are on film negatives. I will need to rescan them over the summer with my new film scanner. Weather-wise in the Grand Cities temperatures are expected to hit the low to mid 50s by the end of the week. Only 20 hours left of winter!!
March 15, 2007: Over the past week there have been many improvements to the site. Office Live transitioned the site over to the new interface in the beginning of the week. The forward on the old homepage was corrupted, but I created a new redirect within 30 minutes. Other than that one glitch the site was not affected. The final storm chasing page was uploaded yesterday morning sporting a new banner title! Storm Center, the last of the pages from the original web site, was redesigned yesterday afternoon. I added a few new maps and repaired broken links.
The flood photo gallery was built last night and uploaded a few minutes ago. Updates were also applied to the crepuscular rays, iridescence, sun dog, and sun pillar photo galleries with photos I took on the ride down to Minneapolis last Friday. More updates will be applied to the snowstorms and blowing snow galleries by the end of the week. The weather equipment page was updated to reflect my purchase of a new document/film negative scanner several days ago (Canon CanoScan 8600F).
Now for what remains to be completed. There are 27 photo galleries that remain to be created. See the list on the weather photo page for more info. The site map is not up yet. The Live Weather section still does not contain any subpages besides Storm Center. That's it!
March 3, 2007: I attempted to photograph the lunar eclipse tonight, but a high deck of cirrostratus only gave me a five minute window to see the moon as it rose over the horizon. Here are two photos that I managed to shoot off.
March 3, 2007: I'm currently working on organizing the photos and videos shot during the three day long snowstorm. A new photo and video are posted in the "On the Prowl" section. More photos should be posted in the various winter photo galleries in the coming days.
