May 2007 News Archive

May 28, 2007: Sorry for being so slow in updating the site. I'm currently in Silver Spring, Maryland for a scholarship I am receiving from NOAA, in which I get to intern at any NOAA facility in the country next summer, in addition to money to help pay for my tuition for UND. For this next week I will be attending various NOAA lectures, but will still have quite a bit of free time to update the site. I got my first lightning photos of the year last night!! I should have the photos up shortly (fingers crossed).

May 24, 2007: I finally got the video from yesterday completed, along with another video I shot at UND during the final days of spring semester. Look for a chase log of yesterday's storm system later tonight (link to chase log does not work right now). I have also been experiencing computer problems as a result of upgrading to a new PC over the past weekend. This is the main reason why I am behind on the site and hopefully these will be resolved shortly.

May 23, 2007: New photos and videos will be up in about 30 minutes (9-9:30pm) from today's storm. Look for a chase log shortly.

May 7, 2007: Just uploaded a new video shot two nights ago from my dorm of a dying thunderstorm. The lightning was all sheet lightning, but there was some cool thunder.

May 2, 2007: Just doing some minor updates all around the site. Added a new photo to the "On the Prowl" section, updated the site map and news archive. I also updated my Weather Equipment section of the site, since my good old Canon PowerShot A610 is dying. I have replaced it with its upgrade, a Canon PowerShot A630. I'll have a picture of the camera up in the coming days. I am also considering expanding some of the photo galleries (even though quite a few are not done yet). Some ideas I am floating around include a mirage, eclipse, and other optical effects galleries.

As far as a site update goes, the Live Weather section is not complete, along with about 20 photo galleries (see photo gallery main page for list). The Great Lakes Vessel Photography section contains no items yet; I am waiting to gain access to my new film negative scanner so I can upload quality film images.

Also, many of my photos are now featured on the new web site "Pictures4Schools" (http://www.pictures4schools.com/). They are located under the "Weather" section of their site (the frost, lightning, snow, and virga galleries). Check them out!!
