Out of Reach: Failed Lightning Chase

Duluth, MNStrong thunderstorms rumbled through the Duluth region this evening, late enough that I was hoping to possibly go for a nighttime lightning chase. I had scouted out Hawk Ridge earlier in the week and decided that it would be a perfect spot to watch lightning. Shortly after 10:00pm I drove up to the ridge, only to find that the storm systems were much farther up the shore than I had originally anticipated. I tried to shoot some lightning photos, but they were in vain (photos below). I called off the chase an hour later.
