Surface Hoar

Surface hoar is exactly like hoarfrost except it occurs on snowbanks and other pieces of ground as opposed to vertical structures.
November 30, 2006 Grand Forks, ND: The first cold spell of the year brought out some interesting surface hoar structures on the Coulee.
February 5, 2006 Grand Forks, ND: Small patches of surface hoar formed on the English Coulee.
